ReStore Energy Systems powers longest unmanned trip taken by an underwater vehicle in a critical mission for Canada.

Powered by two Onyx lithium ion energy systems, the Explorer AUV unmanned submarine is performing missions vital to the Canadian government, often operating in extreme conditions in the Arctic Ocean and even being recharged underwater.

The mission could have huge geo-political ramifications for Canada as the Explorer maps the extended continental shelf and races against Greenland and Russia to prove ownership of the Lomonosov Ridge, an area which potentially contains significant deposits of oil and natural gas.
